Human‑Powered Robotics: Make the robot follow you

Can you build technology with simple materials and a bit of code? Yes – High5Girls will show you how: You’re going to build your own robot finger!

Together with High5Girls’ role models, you’ll start by making your own flex sensor – and use it to make the finger move just like you do. You’ll build the sensor, the mechanics, and the motor that drives the movement, so you experience the entire journey from idea to technology that actually works.

You’ll get hands-on with electronics and see how something you’ve built yourself suddenly reacts, bends, and moves. And you’ll discover how this kind of technology isn’t just fun – it can become anything from assistive devices that improve hand function to surgical tools or robots that work with millimeter precision. After 5 sessions, you’ll have your own little robot, new skills, and an experience you can be proud of.

It all comes to life with materials you can find at home and your very own Arduino starter kit, which you can keep experimenting with afterwards. High5Girls’ sweet role models will guide you every step of the way, so you reach the finish line successfully.

During the program, you will:

• Learn about electronics, motors, and mechanics – and how it all fits together.
• Experiment with coding – and see how software controls hardware.
• Learn how such a product is used and makes a difference in the real world.
• Create your own tech product that you can show off.

No experience required – the most important thing is the desire to join and try things out.

Practical info:

• The program runs over 5 sessions, where we build on the robot each time.
• We provide materials, snacks, and a great atmosphere.
• For some sessions, you may need to bring a computer.
