SUSTAINABILITY TODAY

We are six Sustainable Energy Engineering Master students from DTU that together with High5Girls want to ignite a spark in girls to motivate them to engage in STEM activities at school and beyond. We want them to become future problem solvers and leaders while sharing the vision of a more sustainable future.

Why, how, what, when, where?

We want to share with the next generation our passion for technologies that can help to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges today. At the same time, we want to encourage girls to discover new interests in science by bringing them closer to it/closing the gap.

We are cooperating with the non-profit organization High5girls to arrange hackathons within renewable energy and sustainability. These are aimed at girls between 13-19 years old to get excited about technology and entrepreneurial thinking.

We will let participants solve stimulating science and engineering challenges related to  Renewable Energy and Sustainability while keeping events fun and safe (following COVID-19 regulations).

Although the first hackathons were planned to take place at Skylab DTU (March 13th) and at the Danish Museum of Science and Technology (May, tentatively), due to the current sanitary crisis, the first Hackathon will be online.

WHAT CAN YOU DO

Organizing the online Hackathon requires resources such as the renewable energy kits, venue, workshop materials, welcoming kits and catering. Therefore, we rely on external fundraising aiming to raise the needed 20.000 kr. per event.

Your support allows us to implement our workshops to involve as many girls as possible.  We invite you and your company to donate and/or participate, so that together we can face two great challenges of today’s society: diversity in STEM careers and sustainability for the future.
